A Tampa native asking for the job

Every neighborhood. Rising together. That is the work, not a tagline for a downtown skyline shot.

I was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. I grew up in Dover, east of the city, where you learn early which streets get attention and which ones wait. I have lived in Tampa off and on for more than seven years. I am a married family man. I am a Christian. I am running for mayor because the city should feel like it belongs to the people who live on every block, not only the rooms that already have a seat.

I am not asking you to take me on a slogan. Sit with me on flooding, housing costs, traffic, and the unglamorous basics: lights, sidewalks, trash, parks, and a city that calls back. Those fights are how you tell whether City Hall sees your neighborhood.

A mayor does not run the county, the interstate, or the state. I will not pretend otherwise. The job I want is the one the charter actually gives this city: the budget, the departments, the capital plan, and the habit of showing up in rooms other candidates skip.
